Keep the sequence visible
A first-week arrival plan
Use this practical map to organise housing evidence, address registration and the follow-up tasks that depend on it.
Before you travel
Confirm when you can take possession of the accommodation and ask who will issue the Wohnungsgeberbestätigung. Keep your tenancy paperwork accessible, but do not send unredacted identity documents through ordinary inquiry forms. Check the official website of the municipality where you will live; appointment systems and instructions are local.
On key day
Record the actual move-in date and inspect the spelling on the landlord confirmation. Put each household member’s details in one folder. Photograph meter readings and note any handover issues separately—those are housing records, not Anmeldung documents.
Before the Bürgeramt appointment
Compare your document set with current official instructions. Typical items include identification, the registration form and Wohnungsgeberbestätigung, but personal circumstances may add requirements. If you need an interpreter, check the authority’s arrangements in advance.
At and after registration
Keep the registration certificate safely. Note any corrections while you are still at the desk. Over the following days, use official guidance to update institutions that need your address and watch for post addressed to your new home, including tax correspondence where relevant.
When to ask a specialist
Questions about residence permission belong with the immigration authority or an immigration lawyer. Tax status belongs with a tax adviser or Finanzamt. Tenancy disputes belong with qualified tenancy advice. Scripttrackcore helps with practical preparation and sequencing, then points to the correct boundary.
